Travancore

The princely state of Travancore was founded as a kingdom in 870 and existed till 1949. Thiruvananthapuram was the capital of the kingdom. The state spanned most of central and Southern Kerala. In the early 19th century Travancore became a prosperous princely state of British India. The last ruler of Travancore was Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma II.
